封面故事：加拿大岩石圈探测计划(LITHOPROBE)横穿北美大陆的岩石圈大剖面。LITHOPROBE是加拿大政府为全面了解北美大陆演化过程而设立的国家级地球科学研究合作项目。该项目将北美大陆北部划分为十个断面区进行联合探测，以深反射地震方法作为先锋, 切开岩石圈揭示断面的结构特征, 并配合大地电磁、地球化学、地质年代学等方法来追踪岩石圈的演化。根据探测数据, 现已构建了一条横穿加拿大南部, 长度达6000 km的岩石圈剖面, 展示了北美大陆岩石圈尺度的几何结构与演化历史。（图片提供：董树文）
Cover Story：A large section crossing the North American continent established by Canadian lithosphere exploration program–LITHOPROBE. It is a national earth sciences research cooperation project organized by the Canadian government in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the North American continent evolution processes. The main scientific objec-tive is reached basing on the study of 10 sections, using the deep reflection seismic method as the pioneer and combining various geological methods such as geo-electromagnetic, geochemistry and geo-chronology. Scientists of LITHOPROBE established a lithospheric cross section within a 6000 km long corridor across southern Canada, which illuminates the assembly of the North American continent at an unprecedented scale.
