封面故事：青海省祁连山的天然气水合物。于2008年11月5日在祁连山冻土区的DK-1钻孔中获取。这是我国冻土区首次发现并经检测证实的天然气水合物，在世界中、低纬度的高原冻土区也是第一次发现。该天然气水合物具有埋深浅、冻土层薄、气体组分复杂、以煤层气为主等主要特征，表明是一种新类型的水合物。这项由中国地质科学院矿产资源研究所祝有海研究员主持的研究成果，当选2009年度中国地质科学院十大科技进展，排名第一。详见本期第7-16页。（照片提供：祝有海）
Cover Story：Gas hydrate from Qilian Mountain Permafrost, Qinghai Province. It was collected on November 5, 2008 from the hole of DK-1. This is the first discovery and detection of gas hydrate in China’s permafrost as well as in the low-middle latitude permafrost in the world. The gas hydrate is a new type of hydrate characterized by relatively shallow buried depth, thin permafrost zones, complex gas components, and coal-bed methane origin. The research achievement directed by Professor ZHU You-hai, Institute of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, ranks first among the “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progresses of Chinese Academy of Geological Sci-ences in 2009”.
