Cover Story：Overall arrangement of China’s deep exploration special project “two networks, two regions, four belts and multiple points”. “Fly Skywards, Enter the Earth and Go to Sea” are people’s three magnificent feats in challenging the nature. As the pioneer work of China’s “Enter the Earth” plan, this special project has been organized and supervised by Ministry of Land and Resources and implemented by Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. Working closely around national requirements and starting with the understanding of the earth’s deep structure, the special project intends to concentratedly reveal the crustal structure of China’s mainland, focus on large metallic ore concentration areas, probe into deep controlling conditions of oil- and gas-bearing basins at the depth of 3000-5000 m and make the deep situation transparent, arrange geo-stress survey and monitoring in the present active belts, make numerical simulation to reproduce the dynamic process of the lithosphere, and develop deep exploration instruments and equipment with China’s independent intellectual property right.
