Cover Story:The Liana Chinese Rose, a specimen of Beijing’s famous traditional flower, photographed in the spring of 2009. It implies that Acta Geoscientica Sinica, which was founded in Beijing, is an exotic flower in full bloom in the spring of science. The year 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the first publication of Acta Geoscientica Sinica. Chinese rose is in blossom every month and blooms throughout the year, symbolizing that Acta Geoscientica Sinica is overflowing with enthusiasm and is published periodically. In 1979, the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences started the publication of the Bulletin of CAGS, which in 1994 was renamed Acta Geoscientica Sinica. The journal adheres faithfully to the principles of esteeming science, seeking truth from facts, and serving the public. It is our earnest hope that it will be popular with the geoscience community and serve the readers better in each and every issue. (Photo by WEI Le-jun)
