The Metallogenic Regularity and Prospecting Direction of Cobalt-nickel Deposits in Hebei Province
      China’s cobalt and nickel ores present strategic shortages of clean-energy minerals. Hebei Province is located in the eastern part of the northern margin of the North China Craton. A total of 155 cobalt deposits, ore points, and 34 nickel deposits were found that have good cobalt and nickel ore-forming conditions and prospecting potential. Through a systematic summary and analysis of typical ore deposits, this study presents the genetic types and temporal and spatial distribution patterns of cobalt-nickel deposits in Hebei Province, divides metallogenic belts and prospecting areas, and offers suggestions for work deployment. The cobalt-nickel deposits in Hebei Province are divided into nine genetic types related to basic-ultrabasic magmatism, contact metasomatism, volcanism, ore-bearing fluid, and sedimentary diagenesis, of which magmatic and skarn types are the main types. The metallogenic age occurs from Fuping to Yanshan, skarn is concentrated in Yanshan, and the magmatic type was mainly formed during the Jinning, Variscan, and Wutai periods. The cobalt-nickel deposits in Hebei Province are divided into five subzones of grade IV mineralization and five subzones of grade V. Based on the summary and division of mineralization zones, 11 cobalt-nickel prospecting areas and 20 prospecting target areas are proposed. Suggestions for work deployment include prioritizing the development of magmatic cobalt-nickel deposits in northern Hebei, followed by skarn-type and volcanic block sulfide metamorphic-modified cobalt-nickel deposits in southwestern Hebei, laying the foundation for a new round of exploration breakthroughs for Co and Ni in Hebei Province.
