Heat-controlled Exploration Model of Fractured Geothermal Resources in the Southern North China Basin: A Case Study of the Piedmont Fault Zone of Songjishan
      Located in the southwestern border of the southern North China Basin, the piedmont fault zone of Songjishan is a key area to study the heat-controlling mechanism and exploration model of fractured geothermal resources. In this study, we integrate the regional geological structures, gravity anomaly inversion, drilling tests, and numerical simulations to analyze the spatial structure of the fractured geothermal system, fault-controlled thermal characteristics, and reservoir distribution patterns in the study area. The results show that: (1) the intersecting NW- and NE-trending faults provide a favorable structural background for geothermal reservoir accumulation and heat conduction, exerting strong control over the reservoir type and distribution; (2) interpretation of the gravity anomaly helps identify the concealed faults clearly, and the tectonic framework aligns well with the anomaly zones; (3) the results of numerical simulation suggest that a well spacing of 400 m achieves optimal heat exchange and water level control, and drilling measurements confirm the simulated temperature and hydraulic conditions; (4) a fractured geothermal exploration model characterized by “fault-controlled heat conduction-multi-parameter enhancement of the gravity field-numerical simulation-drilling validation” is proposed and successfully applied in urban built-up areas with strong interference. This study provides a theoretical and technical reference for the sustainable development of fractured geothermal resources in the southern North China Basin and other structurally similar regions.
