Characteristics of Heat Flow and Heat Source Mechanisms in Ganxian, Jiangxi Province
      Ganxian is located in the south of Jiangxi Province and belongs to the high heat flow area in southeast of China. The lack of research on heat flow restricts the comprehensive cognition and further research of regional geothermal background. Based on borehole temperature measurement and thermal conductivity data, the average terrestrial heat flow in the study area was 75.9 mW/m2, which is higher than the average terrestrial heat flow in mainland China, indicating that the study area has a strong geothermal influence. The granites in the study area had an average radiation heat generation rate of 5.68 μW/m3. A widespread distribution of high-yielding thermal granites provides a stable additional heat source for the geothermal background. Furthermore, the deep fault extending across the study area, as well as the secondary faults, allow for deep circulation of heated groundwater. Therefore, the heat source mechanism of geothermal resources in the study area could be defined as “depth circulatory heating + high-yield thermal granite radioactive heat”.
