摘要:
Review of Mesozoic Thrust Nappe Structures in Northernmost China
Nappe structures are a key way to accommodate intracontinental crustal shortening, and record the formation and evolution of basin-range conjunction belts. Numerous thrust nappe structures have developed in northernmost China. In this study we integrated geometric, kinematic, and geochronological data, and then scaled the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics, age, and formation mechanisms of the nappe structures in northernmost China. The nappe structures are east-west trending and distributed along the China-Mongolia border with nappe distances ranging from tens to hundreds of kilometers. The formation ages of the nappe structures can be separated into early (170–160 Ma) and late (150–135 Ma) formation stages, which correspond to the main extrusion-deformation stage of the Yanshan Movement. The thrust direction of the western segment is predominantly NE–SW, which may have been controlled by the closure of the Okhotsk Ocean and the formation of the Bangong–Nujiang suture zone. The main thrust direction of the eastern segment is NW–SE, which was likely controlled by the closure of the Okhotsk Ocean and the far-field stress caused by the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate.
