Analysis and Key Technologies of the Chinese Exhibition and Education System of Petrology |
Based on a wide survey of geological museums in China, the authors investigated and analyzed the exhibition and education system of petrology (EESP). The main problems are as follows: (1) The content designs are unduly specialized in the EESP, and might obscure common audiences; (2) The exhibition style still exhibits orientation and overlooks education, experience, interest and interaction; (3) Microcosmic and deep-level petrology as well as the significance of the petrology in the geosciences have not been shown enough. In view of such a situation, based on the modern instructional concepts of exhibition design in the science and technology museums, the authors strived to solve the key technologies of the EESP and fabricated a set of exemplary EESP successfully. Taking the famous Chinese rock landscapes as the starting points, the authors applied exhibition model, multimedia representation, touch-screen, microscopic imaging (polarized light) and 3D interaction, along the design streamline of “macrography-hand specimen-microstructure”. This set of EESP exhibits the identification features of the typical rocks and the related petrological knowledge, and has important significance for the popularization of petrological science in the geological museums of China. |
