A Study of the Application of Mosaic of Image Program (MIP) to the Digitalization of Geological Section |
Field study is an important task in geological section research. A lot of images should be captured in the process of field study for regional detailed information representation of geological section. These images have high resolution and small Field-of-Vision for increasing the detailed expression. Therefore, both the overall and the regional detailed information of one geological section cannot be synchronously displayed by one of these images. This paper proposes a mosaic processing method based on independent developing program (mosaic of Image Program, MIP) to make these images become a group of panoramic images for both overall and regional information representation. The authors studied the camera calibration, image distortion compensation and geological-section application of MIP for improving the accuracy of image stitching. In the applied project, the authors completed fast mosaic of about 300 high-resolution images for Guzhang geological section in Hunan, and obtained a good data record and representation result. The geometric distortion of mosaic image is less than 2 pixels. The results demonstrate that the technology proposed in this paper has a good application prospect in field study of geological section. |
