Texture and Structure Characteristics of Charoite Jade from Murun in Russia
      In this paper, the authors studied texture and structure characteristics of charoite jade from Russian Murun. The results show that the main mineral of charoite jade is charoite. It is found that the chemical composition is characterized by rich K, Na and Ca. The charoite jade specimens show mainly the following texture types: fiberic crystalloblastic texture, radiating (broom-like) crystalloblastic texture, prismatic crystalloblastic texture, poikilitic crystalloblastic texture and metasomatic relict texture. The observation of charoite jade by SEM shows that the average crystal size is about 150~200 μm in length and 10~20 μm in width. The fiberic texture is responsible for its silky gloss. According to the previous data and the study of charoite jade, the authors tentatively hold that the charoite jade might be genetically of hydrothermal metasomatic type.
