| The Progress of TOPO-EUROPE: the Geosciences Programme of Exploration in Europrope |
| To explore the interior structure and composition of the Earth constitutes the ambition and pursuit of geologists and geophysicists for long. TOPO-EUROPE is a multidisciplinary international research program that addresses the interaction of processes inherent to the deep Earth with surface processes. This programme focuses on the lithosphere memory and neotectonics, with special attention on the thermo-mechanical structure of the lithosphere, mechanisms controlling large-scale plate boundary and intraplate deformations, anomalous subsidence and uplift, and links with surface processes and topography evolution with incorporating data interactive modeling. By chosing the typical region which covers a wide range of geodynamic settings in TOPO-EUROPE natural laboratories, through a multidisciplinary association linking geology, geophysics, geodesy and geotechnology and a multi-approach reacher of monitoring, imaging, reconstruction and modelling to recover the deep structure and 4-D topography evolution of the orogens and intra-plate regions of Europe. |
