| Statistics and Analysis of the Highly Cited Papers Published in Acta Geoscientica Sinica: With a Discussion on the Academic Influence of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences as the Sponsor of the Journal |
| Based on the data from CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) in the year of 2014, the authors studied the citation-related information of the papers published in Acta Geoscientica Sinica in the period of 1994–2013. The results suggest that Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, as the sponsor, plays an important role in the academic influence of Acta Geoscientica Sinica. Researchers from Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences contributed the largest proportion of papers, ca. 51.0%, to Acta Geoscientica Sinica. Furthermore, the authors of the majority of highly cited papers were from this academy too. In the first hundred highly cited papers, the papers from the sponsor accounted for 74.0%. Thus, the sponsor not only serves as the supplier of most contributions but also constitutes the core author group of high quality contributions. In 2008, Acta Geoscientica Sinica modified the format and layout, and started the special column “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progress of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences”, which further highlighted the important role played by Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. During 2008–2013, papers’ citation frequency in the special column was 16.1, much higher than the mean value of 5.99, thus considerably improving the influence of Acta Geoscientica Sinica. It is hence concluded that the sponsor has provided strong support for the abundant contributions and, in turn, the journal demonstrates the sponsor’s superiority in the professional field too. |
