The Investigation of Unauthorized Mining of Ion-absorbed Rare Earth Ore Deposits in South Jiangxi Province Based on IKONOS Data
      Unauthorized mining of ion-absorbed rare earth ore deposits have become more and more serious with the rising of the price of rare earth. The quick and accurate investigation of unauthorized mining has thus become government administrators’ major concern. High resolution remote sensing technology provides an idea for solving this problem. In this paper, ion-absorbed rare earth ore district in Xunwu area of south Jiangxi was selected as the study area, and IKONOS remote sensing data was used for investigation. The interpretation criteria were built with the help of the mining right data, and the vital monitoring areas were mentioned using the geological rock mass data. The results indicate that high resolution remote sensing processing can provide a good method for quick, accurate and dynamic investigation of ion-absorbed rare earth ore deposits.
