摘要:
Characteristics and Main Progress of The Stratigraphic Chart of China and Directions
Under the leadership of National Commission on Stratigraphy of China, The Stratigraphic Chart of China and Directions were compiled by Chinese stratigraphers. The exact correlation between international chronostratigraphy and Chinese chronostratigraphy is established in The stratigraphic Chart of China. The Stratigraphic Chart of China fully reflects the distributive status of lithostratigraphy, the characteristics of geological ages, the biostratigraphic sequence, the magnetostratigraphy, the geological events and the eustatic sea level change during every geological period. According to recent research, some schemes of stratigraphic division of Mesoproterozoic-Neoproterozoic, Cambrian, and Jurassic–Cretaceous were revised. In order to avoid the repetition of names between stage and formation, the compilers adjusted some stage names of Mesozoic and Paleozoic. The Stratigraphic Chart of China is possessed of important scientific significance and practical value for us to understand the development of Chinese stratigraphy, correlate stratigraphy between China and foreign countries, and unfold scientific research, geological education and geological survey. Therefore, The Stratigraphic Chart of China was well received and highly praised by the 34th International Geological Congress and 4th National Stratigraphic Congress. A part of achievements has been widely applied to geological survey and compilation of regional geological records, with good social benefit achieved.
