Evidence for Progressive Mineralization of Fibrous Cranial Crests in Pterosaurs from the Solnhofen Lithographic Limestone of Southern Germany

The Solnhofen Lithographic Limestone and other Upper Jurassic “Solnhofen type” plattenkalks of southeast Germany are famous for pterosaur fossils with soft tissue preservation. Flight membranes, integumentary structures such as pedal scales and bristles as well as pedal webbing are known from these deposits.
