The anatomical term tuba vertebralis was introduced by Martill et al. (1998) to describe a bony tube which enclosed the spinal cord in the type cervical vertebra of the giant azhdarchid pterosaur Arambourgiania philadelphiae, from the Late Cretaceous of Jordan.
