| On the Application of Purchasing Power Parity to the Resources Economic Research |
| Two methods are usually used to compare the economy between different countries. One is the Exchange Rate Conversion Method (Exchange Rate Method for short), and the other is the Purchasing Power Parity Method (PPP). Based on previous studies, this paper compared the two methods from horizontal and vertical aspects, summarized several variations, and then discussed the causes of the differences between the two methods. At the same time, the two methods were compared with each other in their application to the energy consumption intensity and energy consumption per capita. This paper also discussed the causes of the differences between the two methods. It is held that the PPP method is more appropriate for the study of the resource economics. |
