| A Scholar of Precambrian Biostratigraphy: Congratulations on Professor XING Yu-sheng’s 80th Birthday and the 57th Anniversary of His Geological Work |
| Professor Xing Yusheng is one of the well-known Precambrian paleontologists and one of the founders of Precambrian microplants and algae in China. As a scientist, he has been working very hard both in field work and in laboratory. Professor Xing is one of the few earliest specialists in the study of Precambrian microplants in the world and he has been long devoted to researches on Precambrian microplants and biostratigraphy. Since 1962, he has opened up a path for the development of the microplants assemblages in different systems in Precambrian, approached early biota evolution of the Earth from different angles, solved some important problems concerning Late Precambrian stratigraphic division and stratigraphic correlation and provided important evidence for stratigraphic correlation between Late Precambrian strata in China and in other parts of the world. |
