The Effect of Coal-mining Subsidence on Water Environment in the Shenfu-Dongsheng Mining Area
      Land subsidence caused by coal mining is a most harmful, most widespread and most prolonged geological hazard in mining areas of western China. It also seriously affects water environment in that it not only destroys hydrogeological conditions and changes water cycle patterns but also sharply reduces water resources and causes water contamination and water environment deterioration. With the Shenfu-Dongsheng mining area as a study area, this paper discusses the effect of coal-mining subsidence on water environment in four aspects, namely, surface water, unsaturated water, groundwater and water contamination. The results obtained provide a scientific basis for the study of contradiction between water supply and water demand, water environment improvement and sustainable development of regional economy.
