Geological Characteristics of the Daijiazhuang Lead-Zinc Deposit in West Qinling, Gansu Province and Their Exploration Significance |
The Daijiazhuang lead-zinc deposit with Pb Zn metal reserves over 300 thousand tones, is located in Dangchang of Gansu Province and occurs in fine debris and carbonate rocks within northwestern Xihe-Chenxian Devonian basin, one of the important lead-zinc producers in China. Ore bodies irregular in form are controlled by NW-trending faults along or near the interface between upper thick limestone and lower sandstone, with most of them hosted by limestone intercalated with breccias. Sulfide ore bodies are mainly composed of galena, sphalerite, calcite and minor amounts of pyrite and marcasite, with no quartz. The sulfide minerals in the deposit are fine-grained and concentrically-banded in form and exhibits a colloform, framboidal, and, subordinately, micro-fossil textures. Geological and geochemical studies show that differences exist between the Daijiazhuang deposit and the SEDEX lead-zinc deposits of Xihe-Chenxian area in sedimentary environment, ore rocks, sulfide structure, and sulfur and lead isotope geochemistry. The Daijiazhuang deposit is an epithermal deposit hosted by carbonate rocks, similar to MVT lead-zinc deposits. |
