Zircon Fission Track Analyses of Tectonics in the Altay Mountains |
Totally 19 Zircon fission track ages were obtained. These ages range from 155 Ma to 243 Ma and can obviously divided into two tectonic episodes,i.e., 155-189Ma and 189-243 Ma, which are consistent with two tectonic episodes from apatite fission track ages (62-100 Ma and 100-160Ma). It is shown that the durations of the early and the late tectonic episodes are 54-60 Ma and 34-38Ma respectively, with the intervals between the early and the late tectonic episodes changing from 83-89Ma at the early stage to 89-93 Ma at the late stage. The average cooling speeds are circa 1.744℃/Ma during 243 Ma and 62 Ma and circa 1.371℃/Ma from about 62 Ma to the present day. In addition, the zircon fission track ages are related to the distances from the Tesbahan fault and the Basei fault, indicating that these faults must have controlled the regional tectonic evolution. |
