Mo Concentration and Mo Isotope as A Proxy For Oceanic Paleoredox Conditions
      With the advent of MC-ICPMS, it has become possible to use Mo isotope as a proxy for oceanic paleoredox conditions. Mo concentrations in the ocean had prominent increase in Middle Proterocoic, but Mo isotope compositions of the ocean showed no significant fractionation relative to the continental input from Archean to Middle Proterazoic. Mo isotope compositions of the ocean became continuously heavier from Middle Proterozoic to the present day. The increase of Mo concentration indicates oxidation of the atmosphere, whereas the increase of 97Mo implies the oxidation of the ocean. All this suggests that the atmosphere became oxidative in Late Archean and the ocean became more oxidized from Middle Proterozoic.
