Heterogeneity of Mg Isotope Composition in SRM980
      The Mg isotope composition of standard reference material SRM980 prepared by NIST has been investigated in some detail. It has been found that the Mg isotope composition in the material is largely heterogeneous. Among the 5 Mg metal chips analysed, variation in Mg isotope composition is up to 0.00032164 in 25Mg/24Mg,and 0. 00070216 in 26Mg/24Mg ratios. Thus this material is improper to be used as a standard reference for high-precision Mg isotope ratio measurement.
