Epigenetic Oxidation of Tertiary Sediments and Its Contribution to In-situ Leachable Sandstone Uranium Mineralization in the Baicheng-Tongliao Area
      Based on studying spatial distribution of epigenetic oxidation, mineral associations, zoning of accompanying elements, (Fe(3+/)Fe2+ ratios of epigenetic oxidation in Tertiary Da′an Formation and Taikang Formation, this paper concludes that the oxidation type of Taikong Formation belongs to phreatic oxidation and that of Da′an Formation to phreatic-interstratified oxidation. Ura-(nium) mineralization in Taikang Formation is small in size and hence of no importance in uranium exploration. On the contrary, mine-(ralization) in Dan′an Formation has the features of interformational oxidation which provides prerequisite for the formation of large-size sandstone uranium deposits. Hence, the Da′an Formation is a favorable formation for ore prospecting in this area.
