| Framework Design for Chinese Lithosphere Data Model |
| The GIS-based China 3D lithosphere structure database includes 12 specialized sub-databases with various data types. A suitable and effective data model is necessary for storing and managing the complicated data and ensuring the accurate and complete representation of all the data objects in the database. The framework designing problems in the lithosphere database are discussed in this paper. The basic idea is to adopt the matured object-oriented software development technologies and use an object-oriented geographic database model. The data model for the main database must address the requirement of extensibility and expandability. In the development procedure, UML is used to help analyze the data in the sub-database. In the object-oriented geodatabase, a feature dataset contains the data of a sub-database, and the tables, feature classes, relationship classes, subtypes and domains describe various concepts and information in the lithosphere research. All these form a uniform lithosphere data model which integrates spatial and attribute data. |
