Isotopic Hydrogeochemical Characteristics of Water Bodies in Munigou, Sichuan |
Munigou is a part of Huanglong-Jiuzhaigou national scenic spot in northern Sichuan Province. Isotope geochemical technique of natural water was used to analyze the data of δD, δ18O and tritium contents, deuterium excess parameters (d-excess) and (element) chemical compositions. On such a basis, the authors discuss the recharge, runoff, discharge and hydraulic relationship between the meteoric water, terrain surface water, groundwater and main springs in the Munigou area. The Pearl Spring and the Jadeite Spring are major spring resources in this spot. The Pearl Spring is a hot spring recharged by meteoric water derived from an elevation of more than 3 700 m. A part of meteoric water infiltrates underground and returns to the earth′s surface after it exchanges quantities of heat with deep hot fluids. So the Pearl Spring can be exploited as a hot spring. The Jadeite Spring is a typical acidic karst water cold spring. The flow velocity of the water in the Jadeite Spring aquifer is slower than that in the Pearl spring, and its water hence has relatively long detained time. The spring water, as natural mineral water, has a good quality and important economic value. Most of runoff in Munigou is recharged by meteoric water and shallow groundwater. This recharge shows seasonal variation and is important in keeping landscape of the scenic spot. The problems discussed in this paper have far-reaching significance in the evaluation of the exploitation potential of the Pearl spring and the Jadeite Spring and are important in protecting and developing the precious natural resources in Munigou area. The results obtained can also serve as reference materials for similar researches. |
