| A Discussion on the Uplifting of the Central Part of the Nyainqêntanglha Range in the Light of Glacier Denudation |
| Through the delimitation of the Quaternary moraine in the highest region of the Nyainqêntanglha Range and the isotopic age determination, it is concluded that the Quaternary glacier in the highest region was formed during 700～600 ka B P, 200～140 ka B P and 70～30 ka B P. The results indicate that since Middle Pleistocene the highest region of Nyainqêntanglha Range has experienced large-scale uplifting, the glacier movement has been accelerated and the corresponding moraine deposits have been accumula-ted. According to the spatial distribution of lithologic characters and bedrocks in the highest region of Nyainqêntanglha Range, the formation depths of different combinations of igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks, and the statistics of gravel components of moraine deposits at different glacial stages, it is found that there exists evident correlation between the glacier denudation and the uplifting of the Nyainqêntanglha Range. In the light of the rock composition and distribution of the bedrock strata in the highest region of the Nyainqêntanglha Range in relation to the range uplifting and the composition of the moraine deposit, the authors have analyzed the incision of the Nyainqêntanglha Range and its range uplifting reflection. Compared with the uplifting of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the uplifting of the highest region of the Nyainqêntanglha Range can be regarded as the response to the uplifting of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. |
