Stress Measurement and Engineering Stability Analysis at Fenghuoshan Tunnel
      In order to detect the stress state of Fenghuoshan tunnel, the authors made stress measurement at six points around Fenghuoshan tunnel, and obtained the first data in Fenghuoshan area. The results indicate that the maximum horizontal stress is 5.5 MPa in Fenghuoshan area, and the direction is between NE and NEE. The stress value is at the medium level compared with surface stress values from other areas of China. The stress directions are quite in agreement with the present regional stress field as shown by investigation of active faults in the same area. On the basis of stress measurement in combination with engineering geological and hy-drogeological conditions and earthquake activities, the tunnel stability can be analyzed in an integrated way.
