An Analysis of the Mesozoic-Cenozoic Tectonic Stress Field in Kuqa Depression, Tarim Basin |
The analysis of the paleotectonic stress field in the overburden of a basin is always a difficult problem in basin dynamic research. Based on systematic sampling of different layers in the study area, the authors tentatively used rock magnetic fabrics to determine the maximum principal compressive stress direction of a paleotectonic stress field. The measured results have a good agreement with the structural deformation analysis. Rock acoustic emission was also used to systematically screen different tectonic movements in this area and calculate the maximum principal compressive effective paleo-stress magnitude of every movement. The research results show that the rock acoustic emission can be used to measure the tectonic movements, with a basic agreement with the structural geological analysis and the paleo-stress values. |
