Gravity Variation and Three-Dimensional Deformation in the Northeastern Margin of Tibetan Plateau
      In this paper, the formula for expressing gravity variation due to fault movement is deduced and the relationship between the deformation field resulting from fault movement and the observed gravity variation is discussed. The crustal deformation and gravity distribution caused by several sets of fault movement in the northeastern margin of Tibet where Kunlun M s=8.1 strong earthquake had occurred on 14 November 2001 were calculated and simulated by numerical method with the dislocation model. The computed results from the dynamic model of East Kunlun fault and Altyn Tagh fault were compared with the gravity variation observed in the period from October 1998 to November 2001. Moreover, the relationships of the earthquake activity to the tectonic activity and gravity variation are discussed.
