| A Discussion on the Classification and Dating of the Dengfeng Group |
| Different isotopic dating methods such as K-Ar,Rb-Sr,U-Pb (including the single grain zircon Pb-Pb dating) and Sm-Nd have been used to identify Denfeng Group.As different methods yield remarkably different dating results,there exist several schemes for classification of Dengfeng Group. Such a situation directly hinders the further study of Denfeng Group. Based on a comprehensive analysis,this paper holds that the granite-greenstone terrain of Dengfeng Group was formed at the end of Neoarchean (2 500～2 600 Ma),and that it is difficult to divide the stratigraphic units of Proterozoic.In addition,the results of isotopic dating should be used with care.In order to obtain a reasonable interpretation,the utilization of the isotopic dating results should be combined with a comprehensive analysis of the geological and geochemical characteristics of the samples. |
