Distribution of C, N, P and δ13C in Aquatic Plants of Some Lakes in the Middle Yangtze Valley |
An analysis of three sorts of elements(C, N, P) in ten kinds of aquatic plants from nine lakes in the middle Yangtze valley reveals that the concentrations of C, N and δ 13C in leaves of aquatic macrophytes depend on their living environment. The concentrations of C and N in leaves of submerged macrophytes are significantly lower than those of leaves from floating and emergent macrophytes due to the limitation of inorganic carbon. In addition, as the concentration of δ 13C in organic carbon of water is higher than that of CO 2 in air, the δ 13C concentration of leaves of submerged macrophytes is higher than that of leaves of floating and emergent macrophytes. |
