| Characteristics of Cretaceous Sequence Stratigraphy and System Tract in Kuqa Depression, Northern Tarim Basin |
| This paper has divided Cretaceous sequence stratigraphy of Kuga depression in Northern Tarim Basin into one 1st order sequence, three 2nd order sequences and eight 3rd order sequences based on outcrops, well logs and seismographic profiles. The framework of system tracts and their changes in vertical and lateral directions are discussed. The results show that sediments came mainly from the Northern Tianshan orogenic belt. The asymmetry between north and south Kuqa basin filling sequences shows that the Cretaceous Kuga depression possesses the characteristics of foreland basins. Two layers of dark colored mudstones 10～20 m thick were found in Sushanhe Formation, which suggests that a short period of moist climate occurred during Cretaceous when the climate was mainly dry in the area. |
