40Ar/39Ar ages of the Nan'ao Shear Zone and the Lianhuashan Shear Zone in Guangdong Province and Their Geological Significance |
Ar/39 Ar ages of six single mineral samples from the Nan'ao ductile shear zone and the Lianhuashan ductile shear zone can be divided into three groups: 151~162 Ma, 117.5~129.7 Ma and 66~97 Ma.Ages of the first group represent the period of thrusting,folding and dynamo thermal metamorphsim at the deep tectonic level, during which there occurred volcanic activities along the Lianhuashan zone.Ages of the second group, which cover 40 Ar/ 39 Ar plateau ages of two thinds samples, represent the time of strong ductile shearing and reverse sinistral strike slip faulting, i.e., the time when the ductile shear zones were formed. In this period, migmatization and granitization took place along the Nan'ao zone. Ages of the third group indicate the late thermal perturbation, namely the period of the ductile brittle transformation, dextral strike slip normal faulting and crustal extension. Geochronological data show that the cooling uplifting of the southwestern segment in the Lianhuashan zone controlled by the crustal extension since 117.5 Ma B.P.is at a rate of about 0.03~0.29 mm/a. |
