A Preliminary Study on the Origin and Evolutionary Path of the Human Species in Asia |
Since the founding of New China in 1949 there have been fonud in the country large quantities of ape and human fossils dated at Early Miocene or later. The discovery and study of these fossils make it possible to clarify the process of the evolution of the human species in Asia. The author has investigated the designation of their system on the basis of the characteristics of individual fossils and inferred the path of their evolution in the light of their paleoenvironments and paleoclimates in various geological times. With the Alsaticopithecus from Europe serving as an origin species, the human species of African system has completed its evolutionary course in Africa and Europe or in the central part of Asia.Meanwhile, with the Amphipithecus or Pondaungia from Burma serving as an origin species, the human species of Asian system has completed its evolutionary course in the southeastern part of Asia.In the meantime, the protracted and continuous Himalayan movement made it impossible for the Sivapithecus , Ramapithecus and Australopithecus to migrate in Africa,Europe as well as in Pakistan of Central Asia.So there should not be any systematic and evoutionary relations between the human species of African system and that of Asian system.Consequently, the author holds a view that the Asian human species should originate from the southeastern Asia. |
