Controlling Effects of the Mantle Plume on the Jiaodong and Dian-Qian-Gui Gold-concentration Areas |
The Jiaodong area in Shandong province and the DianQianGui area located in the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi border region are two important gold concentration area s in China. Although the two areas are different in host rocks of gold deposits, mineralization characteristics and genesis, they might have been subjected to t he control or influence of the mantle plume. Gold might be mainly derived from the deep source or from the top of the mantle plume, while the host rocks only played a role of “traps”of gold. In the Jiaodong area, because the mantle plum e has evolved into a mature stage, the upper part of the crust has been eroded a way and granite sills appear at the surface. So, the gold dep osits associated with granites are easy to discover. By contrast, the granites in the Dian-Qian-Gui area are buried deeper than those in Jiaodong, so gold depo sits are difficult to find, but the gold prospects there may be better than in Jiaodong as much larger gold deposits might exist at depths. |
