Characteristics and Tectonic Setting of the Mesozoic Volcanic Sequence in the Huanghua Depression
      Intensive volcanic activity took place in the Huanghua depression during the late Jurassic—Early Cretaceous.The volcanic rocks consist of trachybasalt,basalt,basaltic trachyandesite,trachyandesite,latite and trachyte with minor rhyolite.They are considered to be a volcanic sequence dominated by the shoshonte series with subordinate high-K calc-alkaline rock series.In comparison with the shoshonite province of eastern China,the volcanic rocks in the Huanghua area have low K 2O.The formation of the shoshonite is the result of the combined action of two tectonic dynamic systems in the dominantly tensile stress field and was also controlled by the paleotectonic setting.
