Paleoclimate Record Deduced from Groundwater and Climate Change Implications of Groundwater Resources in North China
      The isotopic and elemental compositions of groundwater are influenced by climate conditions at the time of recharge and therefore serve as indicators of climate change. The δ 18 O content of groundwater in North China Plain has recorded the regional climate changes during the last 35kaB.P., especially the has climate shift at the Pleistocene—Holocene transition.It indicates the cold — warm climatic change during the Pleistocene, and also shows the summer monsoon changes during the Holocene. According to the statistical distribution of groundwater 14 C dating , the paleorecharges are identified and the significant recharges for groundwater are about 6kaB.P. and 4kaB.P.. The chloride concentration of soil-water suggests that the dry climate about 3kaB.P. may be probably responsible for groundwater salinity.
