Metallogenic Series of Ore Deposits in Altay Orogenic Belt, Xinjiang, China
      On the southern margin of the Siberian old massif,two tectonic movements took place successively in Caledonian period and Hercynian period,each experiencing the tectonic activity of tension followed by compression,in company with corresponding magmatic and metallogenic activities;as a result,four metallogenic series of ore deposits were formed:Ⅰ.The metallogenic series of iron,tungsten,molybdenum,beryllium and muscvite deposits related to Caledonian basic intermediate acid volcanic intrusive rocks.Ⅱ.The metallogenic series of copper,nickel,cobalt and platinum group deposits related to Hercynian mantle derived basic ultrabasic rocks.Ⅲ.The metallogenic series of copper,iron,lead,zinc,gold,silver deposits,related to Hercynian basic intermediate acid hypabyssal intrusive eruptive rocks.Ⅳ.The metallogenic series of beryllium,lithium,niobium,tantalum and gemstone deposits related to Hercynian granitoids. This paper presents the results of researches on main characteristics and spatial distribution of each metallogenic series.
