摘要:
Age Division and Correlation of "Hulan Group" at Liaoyuan District in Jilin
The "Hulan group" at Liaoyuan district in Jilin province was divided into Shifeng, Wanyue and Shihuiyao formations in ascending order by some authors. Guo et al (1962)consid-ered this group to be Devonian in age. Surveying Team of Regional Geology of Jilin province (1978) correlated the Shihuiyao and Wanyue formations to Lower Silurian graptolite-bearing Taoshan formation and the underlying Shifeng formation to Late Ordovician bed. Zhou (1980) pointed out that the stratotype section of the "Hulan group" in Wanyue is a reverseanticline and the group was divided into Wayue, Shifeng and Shihuiyao fomations in ascending order with an age of Middle-late Silurian. However, the syncline structures are developed in the "Hulan group" area, and the Shifeng formation may be correlated to Saiwusu formation and the Wayue formation to Badangshan volcanics of southeastern Nei Mongol acoording to lithological and fossil associations. It is possi-ble that, the stratotype of the "Hulan group" is a reverse syncline and the sequece of the "Hulan group" should be shihuiyao, Shifeng and Wanyue formations is ascending order. The Shifeng formation yields fossils Thamnopora sp., Cladopora sp., Spongophyllum sp., and Pro-tathyris sp. and the Wanye formation contains Thamnopora sp., Cladopora sp., Syringopo-ra sp., Circophyllum sp., and Streptolasma? sp., indicating an age of Late Silurian (Lud-low).
