摘要:
From the Polycyclicity Theory to Open-and-Close Tectonics
Prof. Huang Jiqing(T,K.Huang)put forward the concept of polycyclic tectonic.movement which was developed into the polycyclicity theory that is influential all over theworld. The present paper outlines the basics of this theory. The present author tries to distinguish between two kinds of polycyclic tectonicmovements:in situ superimposition and re- occurrence in other places according to whetherthey re- occur in the same place or not.Further study on the latter led to the concept oftectonic migration. Tectonic migration is the vivid representation of the re- occurrence ofpolycylic movements,an indepth development of the polycyclicity theory. Its brief descriptionwill be given as below. Applying the plate tectonics theory to the practical geology of China,Huang set up theaccordion movement model of plate movement, which has enriched the plate tectonics theoryand the polycyclicity theory.Based on the pioneer's research, the present author has proposedthe concept of open- and- close tectonics,inter-relating the polycyclicity theory, accordionmovement, tectonic migration and plate tectonics, and tried to find a new way in the study ofgeotectonics,A brief account on the open- and- close tectonics and its relation to thepolycyclicity theory are given below. From the polycyclicity theory through the tectonic migration theory to open-and- closetectonics, one can trace the trajectory of the polycyclicity theory and see its improving anddevelopment, with the open-and- close tectonics(O-C tectonics)being a milestone on the wayof the development of the polycyclicity theory.
