TECTONIC ANALYSIS ON GENESIS OF METALLOGENETIC BELT OF MIDDLE-LOWER YANGTZE RIVER
The metallogenetic belt of the middle-lower Yangtze River is a famous belt of iron and copper deposits in China, is located in a shorterning foreland zone resulting from collision of the North China and Yangtze massif. The Dabie massif was thrust southwards about 41km as an overridging wedge during the Late Triassic-Early Cretaceous, while the Yangtze massif was thrust northwards as an underridging wedge. The tectonic melange are distributed mainly within the Dabie Mountains. Under this compressional environment Fe and Cu ore deposits were formed when the basements of the Nrorth China masif and the Yangtze Massif remelted structurally at a rate of 0.075cm/a within 80Ma(T3-K1).The petrochemistry, geochemistry, metallogeny, mineralization modes and ore association of Mesozoic metallogenic rock bodies clearly show two meta-llogenic magmatic series: the sodic alkai-calcic dioritoid (Na-AC-δ)--ironore-forming rock series and the potassic calc-alkaline granodioritoid(K-CA-γδ)--copper ore-forming rock series. Now, auther has catched a lot ofimformations bearing out the iron series originated from the basement rich in iron of the North China (iron massif) and copper series from the basement rich in copper of the Yangtze (copper massif) in term of remelting in depth. Actually, the iron and copper metallogenic belt of the Middle-lower Yangtze River represents a mixed material field characteristic of both the North China iron-bearing massif and the Yangtze copper-bearing massif, and is located just in the foreland shortened belt of the collision zone between the two massifs.
