CHARACTERISTICS OF EARTHQLAKE ACTIVITY IN YADONG-GOLMUD STRIP AND ITS NEIGHBORHOOD

In this paper the distribution of earthquakes and characteritics of the filed in the recent stress Yadong-Golmud strip and its neighborhood are expounded. The work is based on a great amount of seismic data. The earthquakes' are distributed in a zonal form around a number of arcuate mountaia systems that are roughly parallel to each other. The depths of the focuses are in the range of 15-35 km. The dominant direction of the principal axes of the compressive stress is NNE-SSW, and the elevation angles are small. The principal axes of the compressive stress are basically the same regardless of the earthquake magnitude and the focus depth.
