The Relationship of Tectonic Evolution and Au-Sb Mineralization in Nanpanjiang–Youjiang Basin |

Abstract:The Nanpanjiang–Youjiang basin, which has a unique history and background of the basin tectonic evolution, is endowed with a diversity of mineral resources in Southwest China. Low-temperature hydrothermal deposits such as Au-As-Sb-Hg-Tl deposits are widely distributed, which are closely related to the long and complex tectonic evolution history of the basin. The gold and antimony deposits in the Nanpanjiang–Youjian basin are obviously controlled by structures and favorable lithology. Complex and multiple tectonic-magmatic- hydrothermal interactions in the basin were fertile grounds for a wide variety of mineral resources. Major types of deposits in the region include sediment-hosted Au-Sb-Hg deposits, porphyry-related Cu-W-Sn-Pb-Zn skarn deposits, and carbonate-replacement Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposits. The formation of these deposits was associated with a long and complex tectonic history and development of the basin. In this paper, the authors present a new metallogenic model for the Nanpanjiang–Youjiang basin. Based on this model, the authors hold that the porphyry Cu-Au-Mo deposit is located centrally in a multiphase porphyry stock, grades outward through peripheral proximal Cu-Au-W-Mo skarns to distal Au-and Ag-bearing Zn-Pb carbonate replacements and, at the shallower level of ore districts, to sediments-hosted Au deposits deficient in base metals but carrying abundant As, Sb, Hg and Tl. It is expected that the present emphasis on exploring for shallower level sediments-hosted Au-Sb deposits will increasingly lead to exploration for deeper level porphyry Cu-Au-Mo deposits and porphyry-related skarn systems. |
