| Two Types of Contact Relationship between Permian Dalong Formation and Wujiaping Formation in Western Hubei |

| Abstract:Two distinct types of contact relationship between Late Permian Dalong Formation and its underlying Wujiaping Formation were recognized during 1:50 000 geological mapping in western Hubei. One is conformable contact, which occurs only in Jianshi and Enshi, whereas the other is disconformable contact, which is common in this area. The contact boudary was formed in middle-late Wujiapinggian stage. The determination of the boundary constitutes a typical II-type sequence boundary of the carbonate plateform, and serves as powerful evidence to refute the deep-water origin of Dalong Formation. |
