The Experimental Study on Condition for Synthesis of Sedimentary Dolomite |

Abstract:According to a great number of experimental data, the Mg2+/Ca2+ ratio, HCO-3concentration and salinity in solution are the main factors in controlling the types of syn-thetic mineral. The general rule is as follows: with the increase of Mg2+/Ca2+ ratio, con-centration of HCO3- and salinity, in mineral lattice the amount of Mg2+ is increasing, the amount of Ca2+ is decrasing; in reverse condition, in mineral lattice the amount of Ca2+ is increasing, the amount of Mg2+ is decreasing. Following minerals have been synthesized: protopdoloite (calcian protodolomite and magnesian protodolomite), magnesian calcite, calcite, aragonite, nesquehonite, lansfordite, hydromagnesite, dypingite and monohydro-calcite. The heat treatment of the protodolomite synthesized at room temperature and pressure significantly promotes the diffusion speed of cations in mineral lattce, transorm-ing disordered protodotomite into ordered dolomite. The lowest temperature of transfor-mation is 100-150℃. The shortest duration is 6 months at 100℃,4 months at 150℃. mation is 100-150℃. The shortest duration is 6 months at 100℃,4 months at 150℃. |
