| LATE CARBONIFEROUS RUGOSE CORALS FROM THE QIJIAGOU IN URUMQI,XINJIANG |

| Abstract:The late Carboniferous rugose corals described in this paper were collected from the Qijiagou area in Urtimqi, northwest China in 1977. The co- rals contain 12 genera and 24 species (including 1 new genus, 19 new species and subspecies) .They belong to the Qijiagou Formation of early Late Carboniferous and Auertu Formation of late Late Carboniferous.The Qijiagou Formation may set up one assemblage as follows: Amplexus qijiagouensis-Cystilopho phyllum minor assemblage, including: Amplexus qijia-gouensis sp. nov., A. qijiagouensis convexotabulatus sp. et subsp. nov., A.xin-jiangensis sp. nov., Metriophyllum qijiagouense sp. nov., M. minor sp. nov., Rotiphyllum monophylloides triangulatum subsp. nov., Bradyphyllum xinji-angense sp. nov., Zaphrentites urumqiensis sp.nov., Lophophyllidium pendulum qijiagouense subsp. nov., L. irregulare sp. nov., L. urumqiense sp. nov., Cani-nophyllum urumqiense sp.nov., G.domheri Fomitchev, C. tamugangense Zeng, Bothrophyllum ellipticum sp. nov., Gyslilopho phyllum minor sp. nov.Auertu Formation contains corals as follows: Zaphrentites roliphylloides sp. nov., Cyathocarinia rotiformis Zeng, Pseudolophophyllidium typicum gen. et sp. nov., Pseudozaphrentoides paramapingensis sp. nov., P. nalivkini (Gors-ky), P. chiui (Lee et Yu), Canino phyllum urumqiense sp.nov., C. qijiagouense sp. nov., C. yui sp. nov.The description of the new genus is given as follows: Pseudolophophyllidium gen. nov.Type species: Pseudolophophyllidium typicum gen. et sp.nov.Diagnosis: Coral simple, septa of two orders, with nerrow marginal ste-reozone, major septa thickened distinct, they connect in the end and form stereotheca. Cardinal septum extending to the centre, and forming columella of thick plateformis in the centre. The columella curved in adult stage, but it connects with cardinal septum. Counter and lateral fossula slightly developed, tabulae toward upward to the centre. Dissepimends and cardinal fossula absent.Remark: This new genus is similar to Lophophyllidium Grabau, but differs from the latter in having columella, which is composed by Cardinal septum extending to the centre. New genus closely resembles Stereostylus Jeffords, but differs from the latter in having columella, which is composed by cardinal septatum extending to the centre and they connect in adult stage. |
