Cover Story:Dongshan complex in Anshan, Liaoning Province. 3.8 Ga metamorphic quartz diorite is wrapped in 3.8 Ga banded trondhjemite, and they both are cut through by 3.3 Ga and 3.1 Ga trondhjemite. Three old landmasses with ages older than 26 hundred million years are recognized for the first time in North China Craton based on zircon SHRIMP U-Pb dating and comprehensive research, which reveals the crustal structure and evolution process of the North China old continent and deepens the under-standing of early stage crust-mantle interaction and parametamorphic iron deposits in North China Craton. The research achievement directed by Senior Researcher WAN Yu-sheng of Institute of Geology, CAGS, ranks the eighth among “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progresses of CGS and CAGS in 2014”.
