Cover Story:The iron oxide-copper-gold formation type ore body and native gold at the depth of 202.4m of borehole ZK2101 in the Ga’erqiong deposit, Tibet. Located on the southern margin of the Bangong Lake-Nujiang River juncture belt, the deposit is the typical representative of the metallogenic event of the suture belt during the collision period in the process of the tectonic evolution. The discovery of the high-grade gold-rich iron oxide-copper- gold formation type ore body has greatly improved the economic value of this ore deposit, provided new orientations for regional prospecting work, and also enriched and perfected the ore body type assemblage and metallogenic series theory of ore deposit. The research achievement led by Professor TANG Ju-xing, Institute of Mineral Resources, CAGS, ranks the eighth among “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progresses of CAGS in 2012”.
